Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I was just curious to see if anyone out there had submitted an application without having a T4? I know when someone works freelance or contract base, even if they work the equivalent of full-time hours for 12 months, and meet the requirements of the CEC, they will not receive an actual T4 slip.

Has anyone successfully gone through this process without the use of a T4?

There is a difference between being employed on contract and being self-employed.

Those who are employed on contract get a T4 salary and are the same as employees in most every way except they may have an end date to their contract.

Those who are self-employed (aka contractor, sub-contractor, incorporated, owner-operator etc.) are NOT employees and their work experience is not eligible for CEC.

I have seen a guy who was in a similar condition(Sole proprietor )...submitted his file without T4 and NOA...He got his MR an RPRF and waiting for PPR

Also New OP25A states that...there is a possibility in some situations to be considered as eligible under CEC being incorporated or a contractor without T4 and NOA

Hope this helps......

It also suggests that you get a ruling from the CRA to make this determination. It would be very wise to do so, if you believe you have a de facto employer-employee relationship.

That sounds more in line with what I have heard/read lately. Its so common in today's work situation that people are self employed or on constantly changing freelance contracts, and it seems to not be specific to any particular industry anymore. It's promising to hear that there is allowance for these kinds of situations. If you fill the amount of hours required, it should be a non-issues if you have a T4 or not. Thanks for your thoughts on this matter.

Happy to hear anyone else's story/opinion in regards to this...

However, I believe you need to have to have reference letters from your employer that you have been paid particular salary for at least 30 hrs per week.

And also onus is on you to prove that the autonomy of the work is with your employer and again any self-employed person will not be eligible under CEC

for more info refer OP25A...section 10.12

That does clear a lot of it up for me. It's not the most ideal way to go, but it looks like it can be done of you have enough supporting evidence from your employers stating hours worked, rate of pay etc. Obviously T4 is more desired though...

Anyone else gone through the system being a contracted of freelancer?
