Hi Guys,

Please help i have a job offer and recently got my visa to go to canada but now my employer is now saying he is not sure anymore about me working for him, what i do please help?

Your work permit is only valid for that specific employer. If you still want to work in Canada, you'll need to find a new employer, that new employer will need to obtain a new LMIA and you will then have to apply for a new work permit.

Thank you for your reply, so basically the moment the employer cancels the contract it means the visa in my passport becomes useless.

The reason why he might cancel the contract is because he hired 2 of us for the job now the other guy is already in Canada working but the employer is not happy with his work performance, now his having second thoughts about me too.

The work permit you have is tied to that specific employer and job. You cannot use that work permit to work for someone else.

Do you have a contract.
What is the recourse in terms of the contract.
Generally when Canadians sign a contract it obliges them to follow through.
Its a tough situation but maybe remind him or her of the nature of contracts they are binding agreements and usually have probation periods if you have not even started working how can he or she make an assessment concerning the suitability for the job

A few things to think about.

Actually - contracts generally allow the employer to cancel without notice or with minimal notice. Some contracts are binding - but that's not the majority.

My contract only states that employment will commence upon obtaining a Valid visa and successful entry into canada and it also mentions a 3 months probation period.

In that case there's nothing you can do. If you want to work in Canada you'll need to find another job with an approved LMIA and apply for a new work permit.

Ok thank you.

one last question if I do get another job in Canada from an approved employer will I go through the same process of the visa application including passport request for the visa or the visa I have can still work for purposes Arriving at a Canadian port of entry?

and how long can the permit take?

With the present job offer and Visa you can come to Canada. But if ur employer is not willing to hire u, then u have to find out another employer who is willing to undergo LMIA process.
