Continuous work experience?

my employment experiences as a teacher are as follows:

June 2011 - april 2013 SCHOOL1 (21 months)
June 2014 - march 2015 SCHOOL 2 (9 months)
May 2015 - march 2016 SCHOOL 3 (10 months)

Total: 40 months or 3.3 years

I have an express entry profile which i have created under a representative. Recently we got into a bump because of a misunderstanding on the part of my work experiences. I was told that i cant claim 3 years work experience because of the gaps in between. 21 months is only counted as 1 full year, etc.

Is this correct? Does the immigration or express entry rules back this statement?

You only need a year of full-time skilled work experience to be eligible under the FSW program.

After that you can add all other work experience even if there are gaps.

But considering the work experiences and time frame mentioned above, can i say i have three years and more work experience or just two years? Because they told me i cant claim points for three years because i was told i cant just "add up several months here and there with gaps in between".
