Can anyone elaborate on this:

•You must have at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment

How does CIC define one year,is it based on number of hours (37.5 per week) or days or wht, this is a bit confusing (since they also considering part time equivalent)....plz guide.

Re: Continuous one year experience......means what?

12 months experience without any break or without changing the job, i guess

For your question, have an extract of OP-6 taht says taht:

The applicant's work experience must:

• have occurred during the 10 years immediately preceding the date of application;

• be in occupations listed in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) under Skill Type 0
or Skill Level A and B;

• not be in an occupation that has been designated by the Minister as a restricted occupation.
At the time of printing, there were no occupations designated as restricted. However, for the
most up-to-date listing, officers should refer to the Department's website at
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp;

• be full-time work, which, according to R80(7), is equivalent to at least 37.5 hours of paid work
per week. Full-time work experience requirement may be met by the equivalent in part-time
paid work experience, e.g. two part-time jobs held simultaneously. Experience can be
calculated by adding up the number of weeks of full-time work, i.e. 37.5 hours per week in
one job or a total of at least 37.5 hours per week in more than one job, in one or more of the
NOC categories. Periods of work of less than 12 months during the 10 years immediately preceding the date of the application may be added together and divided by 12 to calculate the number of years.

It means 37.5 hrs paid work/week is required. Hope, this will give ease to you.

deep9,

You need to get experience letter from your employer which should mention that you have worked for atleast one year in the same occupation. This experience is valid if you have worked in the last ten years and this occupation should be in the 38 NOC list.

US visa stamped on the passport can't let the OP do this.

It Means no gap in job hours. 9-5 5 days a week.

Since I worked 48 hours/week it comes to another extra 500 hrs(based on 37.5 hours requirement) . So does that compensate for the holiday week where its not 37.5 hrs?

Seniors plz guide....Rupeshhari, PMM, MarkCan.....

How long was that holiday?? Months???
We all take holidays and we all travel when we are employed. If you are talking about going somewhere for 2 -3 weeks, it doesn't matter. Holidays are part of 12 month working year.
Your letter of reference and/or work contract should clearly indicate that you worked full time (48 hours per week) from e.g. 01.05.2006 till 01.05.2007 holding a position of XXXXX at the Company YYYY with an annual salary of $$$$$ with no bonuses paid.
Reference letters don't mention holidays, unless it was a really extended one (months).
