contact past common-law relationship?

Does IRCC contact your past common-law relationship even if it was ended over 4 years ago?

We assumed that IRCC checks all the people listed in our application as part of the background check. We're a bit worried that the past common-law relationship would be contacted because it kind of ended on bad terms.

I believe that you must declare though. For the reason that they want to know if you have sponsored someone before. It's better to declare.

You need to declare all previous marriage and common-law relationship. But they rarely contact anyone mentioned in any form.
