If you’ve already received your PR card you’ve already landed
If it’s your RO 2/5 I highly doubt they’d extend it , like highly
2/5 is already extremely lenient. And the pandemic never started really affecting anything until March /April

Agree that you aren’t going to be given permission not to meet your RO. You still have up to 2 years to move to Canada.

hi thanks for your response..and sorry because i guess i wasnt clear enough..i have time till April..so about 6-7months left of that 2yr period remains and its just that in the current economic environment i would rather postpone and not place my family at financial risk so and that's why i was wondering if someone would know a good touchpoint..thanks again!

I would warn that the later you return to Canada, the more in practice you will face limitations in travel - because any time short of that 730 days minimum for RO, the more risky it will be to travel abroad.

And effectively, you will have no buffer for contingencies that may come up, should, for example, you need to return to your home country for some unforeseen reason.

Requesting for extension to comply with the residency obligation of 730 days for a 5 year period is never an option while you are still within the valid 5 year validity period of your PR card. It never happens. If in doubt, consult a lawyer or RCIC.

From what I know, there is no process for RO extension beforehand. Once you present yourself at the Canadian border, the border agent will evaluate whether you meet Residency Obligations or not. You may try to provide the reasons to them at that point, and it will be their discretion on whether to report you, or let you in without reporting you.
I dont think there is any way to get an exception beforehand.
