G'day,

1) Does hiring a visa consultant strengthen out profile in any way??
apart from our paper work being eased in what other ways can they really help? I have been told by friends not to hire one as it would deter the visa officer and lower our luck.
If they majority feels they play an important role, can you suggest me some good consultants in India more particularly from Bangalore.

2)During my first visit to Canada on a student visa I pretty much stayed there till the last date of my visa expiry but beyond expiry date. Will this affect my profile in any way when I reapply for a student visa again from my home country.

Thank you

If you overstayed last time then it will affect your new visa application........

@ momi - what exactly does over stay mean in this context? I returned to India a day prior to my visa expiry date, I didn't stay beyond the expiry date.

These are the exact dates that I have on my passport -

Canadian Visa expiry - 30 April 2011
Indian Immigration seal (home country) - 29 April 2011

Have I flouted any rules here?

Thank you

Even if you stayed after the expiry of your visa but left the country within 90 days expiration date, its not counted as overstay. Because technically you can restore your visa within 90 days of expiry and continue to stay here in Canada until the day the decision is made under implied status..

182. On application made by a visitor, worker or student within 90 days after losing temporary resident status as a result of failing to comply with a condition imposed under paragraph 185(a), any of subparagraphs 185(b)(i) to (iii) or paragraph 185(c), an officer shall restore that status if, following an examination, it is established that the visitor, worker or student meets the initial requirements for their stay and has not failed to comply with any other conditions imposed.

Hi,

1. This rule is not applicable when you leave Canada. And it's of no guarantee that your application for "Restoration of Status" will be approved.
