I need to get a lawyer in the Dominican Republic, who can help me get a police certificate for my partner, who worked there for just over a year. Anybody know someone out there????? THANKS

You really should not need a lawyer to get that.

We just had someone go to the police station and get it.

Lawyers will definitely rip you off if you are dealing with them from outside the country.

Did I remember you mentioning it was for the Punta Cana area?

If so I have a friend there, I will email them and let you know....

Hi... yes I messaged a friend and they are going to try to get it for me... I only worry that if it doesnt work then I will need a lawyer.. I guess you probably already know that it is always a toss up if things will happen or not, maybe he will not e able to convince the police to give it to him

Yes for sure. It helps if you know someone a bit higher up in the police force to get it done.

Otherwise a few extra pesos should get it done.... ::)

ACS,

I had a friend in the DR go to the police station with my partners visa and money(of course)... the police refused to give him the police certificate, even when offered extra cash.

I am wondering if you could elaborate on how you got yours, if there was a special location or something? My friend went to higuey, they are from the punta cana area.

Thanks for your help.

He needs to go to the procuraduria, (I think the closest its in Higuey)not to the police and you dont have to pay extra there, just bring a copy of the passport, photo 2x2, pay the fees RD$330.00 at Banco de Reservas(keep the receipt) and wait couple hours or less. The document its called "Certificado de No Antecedentes Judiciales".
Good luck

Hi... yes I sent him that message and he confirmed thats exactly what he did, they refused to give it to him...

Tell your partner to go to the closest Dominican Consulate whereever hes living. Go to Consuladord . Com , you can get more info there.
