Hi, I just want to ask about the conjugal sponsorship. I want to sponsor my ex husband as a conjugal partner.. we are divorced here in canada but in our country we are still married and thats the barrier I think. we reconciled and fix our marriage. Is it possible to sponsor him or do I have any other options too? please I need your advices or if there any same situation like me

How did you obtain your PR status? Was your ex husband included in the application as a dependent and was he medically examined? Or was he excluded from that application because you had already divorced?

I don't think IRCC will accept conjugal sponsorship in this situation. You would either need to get remarried or live together for a year first to become common law.

Assuming your ex was not included in your PR application, this also generally causes IRCC to examine the situation must more closely and you'll want to make sure you have a very strong application. This is yet another reason why conjugal really isn't feasible (on top of the fact that I expect you don't face any real barriers to getting remarried or becoming common law).

How did you get PR? Economic immigration? How long ago did you become a PR?

A conjugal application is not going to work. You either need to return to your home country and live there with your spouse for a year to become common law or get remarried (you may need to do this in another country if you cannot remarry in your home country). If your spouse can get a TRV, then another option would be to have your spouse come here and either get remarried or live together for a full year to become common law. Expect a lot of additional scrutiny from IRCC because you are wanting to sponsor an ex who was not included in a previous application. You'll want to put together an extremely strong application. Expect longer processing times and the possibility of an interview. Your application will not be straight-forward.
