Conjugal partner (How long before you can apply)

So me and my boyfriend have been in a relationship for almost 2 years now, I lived in Canada for almost 3 years during that time I met him. We even lived together for 7 months before I moved back to my home country because my family did not approve my relationship(same-sex). And we could not get married due to my family not accepting me and because of that I was in severe depression. I was not mentally prepared. Now my boyfriend wants to sponsor me under conjugal partner sponsorship program but we have been away for only 6 months however we have been in relationship for 18 months. My question is am I eligible to apply or do I have to wait until it’s one year away from him?

On the official website of Canada immigration it says you have to be in a relationship for at least 12 months. Please help or reply if you have any idea.

Hi. Your relationship needs to be 1 year old at least to be considered conjugal. If you meet that requirement, technically you can apply now. However, there's a little thing. You were in Canada before, so what is preventing you to go there again and get married there? Also, what is keeping you from becoming common-law with your boyfriend (living together continuously for 12 months) so you can apply under one of those two streams? The conjugal application is designed for people who cannot get married anywhere, or cannot become common-law. It looks like you can do one of those, since you have been in Canada before. Perhaps visiting Canada is no longer possible for you? If you can get married, that's what you're supposed to do. I don't think not being prepared for marriage, or your family not agreeing with it, is a barrier that IRCC would accept, but others could correct me if I'm wrong. Also, is same-sex marriage legal in your country? You might not be eligible for a conjugal sponsorship application if you can somewhat easily get married either in Canada or in your home country.

It sounds like you don't qualify for conjugal. There are no legal barriers to you getting married, so a conjugal app will most likely be rejected. It doesn't matter how long you've been dating.

Your parents not approving of the relationship or marriage is not even close to an acceptable reason to apply conjugal.

You really need to find a way to get married or live together 12 months to become common-law. You should try to return to Canada to get married, or go to a 3rd country where same-sex marriage is legal if it's not legal in your own country.

This won't be regarded as a real immigration barrier. I agree you don't meet the requirements for conjugal and should look to either get married or live together for a full year to become common law.

Family/religious reasons are not valid to IRCC. They are only looking for legal and immigration barriers.

What is preventing you from getting married now?
