Hello Everyone,

Recently, I reached out to a few Immigration Offices scattered around who are promising me PR, if I apply.

However when I go to CIC website to check my points along with my spouse and other criteria, it all adds up to somewhere around 280 (I am not sure if I am calculating it right).

The CIC website advises one to register with the Job Bank to connect to potential employers and if offered a job you get additional 600 points which is awesome.
But, I see the chances of getting a Job Offer is next to impossible given the present state of the economy and LMIA.

So registering with the Job Bank is mandatory even though there is no guarantee you will secure the job. So how does this help some one with 300 or less points secure an ITA.

I see most of the people here have 450 or more points. How do they score that many.

Do you need a Job Offer or PNP to score more than 450 points?

I'm confused. Your signature says you're already a permanent resident.

Mate, maybe you should have clarified that in your post, otherwise you appear like a troll. You clearly said YOU reached out to agents to get PR yourself, and you also said that you calculated YOUR score, not your friend's.

Also, how about you or your friend do some research? If you had read a few posts on this forum, no less the ones that are marked sticky up the top, you could have easily answered the questions yourself.

This is basic stuff, and the CIC website has all the info you need.

Check this page to get an understanding of how points are allocated in the CRS points system:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

You will see that it is possible to score enough points without having an LMIA-approved job offer or a provincial nomination.

As for job bank, it is just a formal requirement for anyone without a job offer to be accepted under EE. The likelihood of actually getting a job offer through job bank is very small.

Thank you for your kind reply. And my apologies for not being clear? Yes, it is for my friend who I really want to help.

As of now I am scoring 334 points without the Job Offer and PNP. With this, I can go and apply to the pool but I guess I won't get an ITA.

I see most of the people here scoring at least 450 points. Is this because they have Canadian work experience/education?

Thank you.

If you're inquiring for a friend, why do you keep saying:

Really frustrating!

Anyways, if you had actually looked at the link that I posted above, it should be obvious to you that you can easily score more than 450 points without Canadian experience.

Example:

Top scores for language test (e.g. IELTS): 136
Master's degree (Canadian or ECA-assessed foreign equivalent): 135
Skill transferability (CLB 9+, 3+ years foreign work experience, master's degree): 100
Age 20-29: 110

Total points: 481

Thank you so much again. And my apologies.

The profile for my friend is this.

Education 2 bachelor degrees. (Bachelor of Computer Applications,Bachelor of Commerce.)
Experience 8 years
IELTS 7 in all
Age 38
No canadian work experience/no canadian education.

His spouse:

Education : Masters
IELTS 8 in all
Work Experience: NIL
Age:30
No canadian work experience/no canadian education.

When I calculate the total points are 334. Am I missing something.

IELTS is very important. 7.0 in listening lowers the score a lot. Increasing it to 7.5 makes a huge difference.
Also, if you try filling in the wife as the main applicant, you will get 423 points, even without job experience.

Are you using this?

It sounds realistic. What is dragging him down is his age (can't do anything about it) and his IELTS results.

Improving the listening score to 8 or better will probably see him cross the 400 threshold.

Nope. It is an eligibility requirement for the PA to have at least 12 months of skilled work experience. Her profile would be ineligible.

Is it you or your friend? You might want to ask your friend to post here, as he would be able to provide complete first-hand information.

Thank you everyone for helping me out.

Yes, it is for my friend. He is seeking my help since I am already in Canada.

I know he should be doing it himself but he is always busy and not everyone likes to post on forums. I do not want him to go to an agent who might rip him off for nothing.

Thank you for helping me out. This forum has always helped me. I did my application by self and now I am a successful immigrant thanks to people like you who share valuable information here.

So registering with the Job Bank is mandatory even though there is no guarantee you will secure the job. So how does this help some one with 300 or less points secure an ITA.
The idea was simple enough. Canada launches a job bank. Employers who are looking to hire post in the job bank. If no qualified Canadians apply, then the business is eligible for a LMIA, and can hire a foreigner. This helps Canadians find jobs, helps ensure accountability (as the government of Canada knows about Canadian applicants), and helps deal with labour shortages. It also helps avoid cases where companies do fake listings in order to hire the candidate they really want (something we see all too often). They make a listing just to get a LMIA, but the company has no intention of hiring any Canadians, nor of hiring anyone other than the employee in question (who is often working on a PGWP).

The idea was that after the company gets a LMIA, they can hire foreign applicants from the job bank.

As another bonus, Permanent Residents are eligible for the job bank, which can help with job placement. A company lists a job to try to get a LMIA, and the government says "here's a qualified PR - hire them instead". This is why LMIAs require that the job be listed in the job bank first.

That's the theory, and why everyone in Express Entry is required to register for the job bank.

The reality is that the job bank didn't get finished as intended, and the liberals are unlikely to finish it because they don't like economic immigration. Their emphasis is on family class and refugees, and are looking to give further advantages to students.

Pragmatically speaking, no, the job bank won't get you a LMIA. It's another hoop to jump through to try to get PR. If you're going to get a LMIA, you need to find an employer who has been trying to hire for a while. When they have been trying to hire for several months, and unable to find anyone, it's much easier to get a LMIA, and they will be more likely to be willing to apply for one.
