I came as an international student in August 2011.I completed my 1 year course in September 2012.I have a full time permanent job with a retail company and would like to immigrate.I will complete 1 year of my Job in December .My Work visa ends in December 2013.
I was going through the CIC website and there is no mention of how many year of education is required is it 1 or 2 years.
Are they only focusing on the Work experience.

Please help

It's one year of skilled work as per NOC 0, A, or B lists. You do not need education credentials anymore as long as you work full-time for one year. You need letters from your employer to demonstrate that you worked more than 30 hours a week, or their equivalent in part-time, the duties match the lead statement from NOC designations, and you had authorization (work permit) for that job.

Is your work permit the post-graduate one or is it a closed permit for a specific type of work?

CEC does not care about education....they care about your working hours...make sure you have worked for 52 weeks in NOC O, A or B and you worked minimum of 30 hrs each week (cannot be less else you will need to increase your weeks)

Thanks for the response !!!

I have another Query,I complete 1 year of work and my work permit ends on same date .Is there a possible way if I have a full time permanent job to extend my work visa

My work visa is open permit

if u applied under cec and received ur AOR, u can apply for extension of WP under bridging open work permit otherwise ur employer can obtain positive LMO that will enable u to get closed work permit

My opinion: you should try to extend the work permit first because once it expires you have 90 days left in Canada to plan your departure. You cannot work beyond its expiration date. This is something you need to arrange with your employer to get another LMO or any other procedure in order to extend your permit. You can only apply for CEC AFTER you complete 1 year of work.

hi thanks for the response!!!

Do you have any idea How many days or weeks CIC takes to give AOR once you have applied

Before getting your hopes up, I would urge you to determine first whether your employment is skilled or unskilled (many retail positions are classified as unskilled), because only skilled positions are eligible for CEC.

You have to find your occupation and its NOC code here - that will determine whether your experience is eligible.

NOCs that are Level O, A, or B are "skilled"

[/quote]hi I'm in Canada on work permit since 1 oct 2012 . I also worked here for the same employer in 2008 for more than 7 months ( from July 08 to jan 09) & then I went back to India. Again I came in sep 12 & since then I m working here.
My question is should I m eligible to apply as I have more than 1 year Canadian work experience but in two parts .

Anukapur,

To qualify for CEC, your work experience must have been acquired within the last three years. Therefore, you will not be able to use your experience in '08 and '09. If you are working in a skilled occupation (NOC O, A or B), you will have to wait till at least October 1, 2013 to be eligible.
