Confusion about pictures for medicals in the United States

I am sponsoring my husband from the US to Canada and I read a few posts that said that you have to provide pictures with your medicals. I did not see anything that mentioned that in the "United States" specific form. Can anybody that immigrated to Canada from the US tell me more about where I could find this information? Thank you

Alright so it doesn't say anything about having to submit pictures when getting the medicals done. But some people said they had a picture on their medicals, for which I cannot find any information.

i think ur guide states that u are to take 4 pictures and bring with u to ur medical the dr takes 1 of the picture puts its on the medical submit it to CIC and then u submit the rest of the pics with your application thats my guess i didnt do my app yet waiting to get married

If you look at the bottom of Appendix A document checklist, they request 4 photos. Those are in addition to the ones you have to supply for the medicals.

Yes you have to provide photos for the medicals, we gave our DMP four for my husband and four for his daughter.

Thank you Jayde, I appreciate it. However, I know about the 4 pictures for the application, but how come it doesn't say anything for the medicals? Should I just call the doctor to ask whether s/he wants pics?

The issue is that the US region specific guide does not tell you how many photos you'll need for your medical -- or even that you'll need any at all (you will). The only way to know is to call your DMP and ASK them. They will tell you how many to bring. It varies from DMP to DMP, but most people have had to bring 4 or 5 photos to the medical. These photos are separate from the 4 required for the application package. They're the same size, though (i.e. immigration size).

It's the DMP who requests the number of photographs for the person to be examined. This is because in some jurisdictions, the VOs would request the additional photographs and affix them to form IMM 1017, then give it to the applicant to take to the medical examiner. Most DMPs would have their own 1017s and will notify you how many photographs are required. That is part of their duties as Designated medical practitioners, they have some rules to follow. Check the DMP handbook, Appendix C (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/pub/dmp-handbook.pdf) if you're curious.

My wife was told to bring 4 photographs of herself to the appointment, who then placed them on the IMM 1017. A copy of that was handed to my wife to be included in the application bound for Mississauga.

So in short, your DMP will advise you how many photos are required and he'll ask you to bring them to the appointment.
