Hi All,

I am confused about using employment as a graduate teaching assistant/ research assistant for EE FSWP. I made an EE profile online and it said that I am eligible. I put in my primary activity as a student and it did not complain. According to several people on this thread:
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/noc-4012-research-assistant.295730/
Graduate teaching assistanship does not count for FSWP even if it is outside of canada. Please let me know if I can still apply. I do have the necessary hours. Although I should mention that my employment as a teaching assistant is contingent on me being enrolled full time. It is however paid work and I do have the required tax forms and pay stubs to prove it.

I got COPR myself solely based on TA/RA work (in the US). The only thing is that TA/RA work in Canada does not count as a *Canadian* work experience under CEC if the worker was a full-time student on a student visa, but it still counts as work for FSW (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=855)

I think some TAs/RAs may have difficulties with the continuous requirement because of the summer (I worked as an RA during the summer, in-between teaching during the academic year).

That sounds great. What should be the NOC here, the department we worked for for eg: Software engg or NOC 4012?
