Hello, nice meeting you all! Smiley
Hope you can help me out. I have a work permit. I am in Canada. WP will expire till 2016.
Right now I am filling out the TRV so that I can travel abroad on vacations while I am in Canada.
However some of the questions in the form section "Details of Visit to Canada" I do not know what to answer, since they are more related to people applying from outside of Canada and not within canada. Please your guidance is appreicated:

"Details of Visit to Canada"

1a- Purpose of my Visit: Should I put Returning Worker or Other
Technically I am not returning worker since I am already here so should I put Other and then in question 1b write the following.

1b- Other: Work in Canada need TRV to travel abroad-vacations

2- Indicate how long you plan to stay:
should I put tomorrow's date till the date of the expiration of my Work Permit, or what am I suppose to put here? ::)

3-Funds available for my stay?: I am not coming to Canada on vacation, I already work here so what should I put here, it requires and amount of money. I am confuse ,
-should I put my annual salary till 2016, when my WP expires?
-or the amount of money I have in my bank saving, how much will be enough till 2016?
-or what do I put here
This is a weird question since it does not really apply but the form request an answer.

4- Name, address and relationship of any person(s) or institution(s) I will visit: I suppose I will just put the company I work with or do I put my name and my address since I live and work here already?

Really appreciate your time and specific/detail answers in advance.
Thank you ;)

It sure is a bit confusing situation. However, i can relate to most having answered similarly in another situation.

1a. Other
1b. YES - correct

2. Yes, put the date till expiry of wp. Though i am a bit skeptical because i was applying for multiple entry visa which could be valid for as long as wp. Where as single entry should only hold for six months max stay.

3. Put in your annual salary (for one year). Not entire salary till 2016 :) Saving is irrelevant - rather misleading. You might have nothing in account but living comfortably from pay check to pay check.

4. Company is better - though it is even better to put a manager's name and address along with company name.

In here if I put my Manager's name in the field should I put for example in name: John Smith/ FedEx (fedex being the company name)? Relationship to me: My manager at FedEx?, Address: the company's address not my manager's address, correct?

You are most welcome.

2. I am only trying to say that if you write dates which appear to indicate you intend to stay in Canada for say 2 years - while only applying for a single entry trv, then these don't add up. You choose only single vs multiple entry application which automatically gets you trvs for equal length of time as of your wp. I heard that rules have changed recently and all trv applications would now be treated as multiple entry ones. Please verify.

4. Yeah thats what i meant i.e. put company's address. Also i feel (e.g.) "Development Manager - Group X" is more appropriate title rather than "My manager" because it gives more concrete info about the reference. It is understood that the person is at least directly known to you. Otherwise you wont name him here. Just an opinion.

1) Still a bit confuse with this part :-\, I am filling up an online application so the application that I have to fill up is given automatically by the system (I did not selected it) after filling out some questionnaire it gives me this form IMM5257 (03-2014) E, I have looked up and down in the form and I do not see any place where to select multiple or single entry. I need a Multiple Entry but do not see where to select this.
2) This is a renewal visa, the first one I was given a multiple entry till the expiry of my first WP, does that mean that that was my one time of multiple entry and now I might get a single one? THANKS AGAIN :)

Thank you FKL, you are a life saver :D. Please see above in red. Hoping not to bug you that much.

No such meaning, i suspect there is no such choice any more because they started treating all applications as multiple entry since a few months ago. I just wasn't sure that was true all across. You might also verify by checking the fee. If it is 100 CAD then probably it means multiple entry visa. Earlier, you would choose between the two and be charged 75 or 150 CAD accordingly.

Hi,

I have the same situation as you have. I just got my post-graduate work permit and I have to apply for a visa now. But in mycic, the checklist gives the link for "Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Made Outside of Canada (IMM5257)". Do you get the same link or is it Application for Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) Made Inside Canada in your case ?

Thank you.

Hi giri,
That is what I got, application outside of canada. I called the CIC service line and they confirmed me that weirdly that was the right application for inside canada. Good luck.
