Confused - Sponsoring old parents from india

Hi,
We are PR Holder married couple from india with a PR holder daughter under 18 yrs and a baby canadian citizen.
Request information about whether or not can i sponsor my parents who are back in india.
Am confused at the text from cic

Option 2 – Other relative
You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the following conditions:
-you do not have a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, or one of the following living relatives you could sponsor instead:
son or daughter,
parent,
grandparent,
brother or sister,
uncle, aunt,
nephew or niece.
-you do not have any of the above-named relatives who is a:
Canadian citizen,
permanent resident, or
registered Indian under the Indian Act."

So, i dont have a spouse and children who i could sponsor instead because they already have their pr as part of our family application 2 yrs back.
Does it mean, i can sponsor my parents ? Can my wife sponsor her father only (wife's mother is no longer alive)....confused.!!!!!

Requesting clarifications please

Thanks
Sandeep

Yes - you can sponsor your parents. However there are a few conditions. First of all, you must have earned income from Canadian sources (i.e. a job in Canada) for at least the last three years that meets the low income cut off. How much income you have to make is determined by the number of people in your family now (spouse, children) plus the number of people you want to sponsor.

Secondly, Canada only accepts a limited number of applications per year. The application can was reached around the second business day of January. So the earliest you would be able to apply is January 2017.

Expect it to take 4+ years for their application to be processed.

OK - it looks like you just landed in Canada next year and aren't planning on relocating to Canada until 2017. If that's the case, the earliest you will qualify to sponsor your parents will be 2021.

You must be living in Canada and earning an income in Canada to qualify to sponsor them.

If you are living in the US - you don't qualify.

Thank you for your answers , however there are follow up questions i have,
@scylla,
"you must have earned income from Canadian sources (i.e. a job in Canada) for at least the last three years that meets the low income cut off"
Do you know whats the cutoff. I have a job in Canada since 2015 June and have relocated to Canada since then.
I currently have a wife with PR and 2 daughters, one of whom is a PR and the other is a canadian citizen. Do you know whats the limit for me.
If my wife wants to sponsor her father, can she show my income ?, she is a homemaker and doesnt have an income as such

@rsimmigration,
why doesnt the other relative option apply to me? can you please clarify.

Thanks again

Required income is here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5772ETOC.asp#table1.

The fact that you have a wife and children who are PRs/citizens means you are excluded.

You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the following conditions:

With you + spouse + 2 kids + 2 parents, that is family size of 6. LICO is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5772ETOC.asp
You will need 3 years of income showing probably around $75,000 starting in 2016 (I assume you won't earn enough with only half year in 2015), and it will increase a bit each year. If you have qualifying income in 2016, 2017 and 2018, you can possibly submit an application in January 2020 depending on rules at that time.

To sponsor your spouse's father (assumed her mother is deceased or separated) only your family size would be 5 ($65K), but to sponsor all parents (your 2 plus her 1) your income needs to meet family size of 7 ($82K).

And yes, each of you could use the other income as co-signer. So CIC will take your family income, not just individual.

Did you not read my post just above this explaining exactly how you can sponsor your parents??

You can use the parents immigration stream when you qualify. You can't use any other immigration stream to sponsor them, you must use the one set up for parents/grandparents only.

Seriously, read the responses. As said several times, you don't qualify for the "other relative" route but you can sponsor your parents through the normal PGP route.

Sincerely, My Bad Rob_To and Canuck_In_Uk. Apologies!

I got confused between family sponsorship of 'Other Relatives' Stream and the PR and 'Parents Sponsorship Stream' . At first i didn't realize that they indeed are distinct streams under the Family Sponsorship program. Now i understand it a lot better.

So, I understand that,
- I can sponsor my parents in the future whenever i have sufficient income
- My wife(0 income homemaker) who only has her father can sponsor him through me being co-signer and help her reach the income levels.

One Question here,
So, after my wife sponsors her Father and gets his PR, can she then go ahead and sponsor her Aunt under "Other Relatives" stream?. Or will she be blocked due to the fact that she has a PR holder daughter and will have a PR holder Father(in the future)?

Yes, as long as your family income meets the family size of everyone involved.

So, after my wife sponsors her Father and gets his PR, can she then go ahead and sponsor her Aunt under "Other Relatives" stream?. Or will she be blocked due to the fact that she has a PR holder daughter and will have a PR holder Father(in the future)?
She does not qualify for the "other" relative option, since she has family in Canada.
This option is ONLY reserved for those who have no spouse, no kids and no other family whatsoever in Canada, and parents/grandparents are deceased. So they must be completely alone in Canada (it's called the "Lonely Canadian" rule).

Thanks again,
My younger brother who has his PR since almost 4 years now, does have enough income to sponsor 1 of my parents.

Will it work, if next year, he sponsor 1 of my parents, and then once his income increases probably in 1 more year, he can sponsor my 2nd parent?

i hope parents can be sponsored through separate applications and both need not be on 1 application

No, they both need to be on one application.

Hi Allura,
Can you point me to official documentation regarding that? I am unable to find where on cic website it says that both parents need to be one same application

One parent will be listed as the primary applicant, the other as the dependent

As with any other application process for immigration the entire 'Family' is listed together on the application.

Finding a specific 'rule' that corresponds with it, well, that would be up to you to do the research regarding that. I can assure you that is the correct answer. Parents and families are not 'split' due to income restrictions. They are still married and therefore this dependent upon one another just as your children would be your dependents on a family immigration application.
