Dear All,

I graduated from a canadian university and am working on an OPW from the last one year. I am working at this reputed company through an agency and my job title is "Documentation Specialist" My graduation degree says "Bachelor of Arts" with my subjects mainly being Economics.

Do I qualify for pr? It seems there are lot of categories, but cannot find this particular job title.

Please help Seniors.

Regards

Education and job title are less important than your job's responsibilities for CEC
Go into the hrdc website and find the noc code that matches your role responsibilities most closely.
If it is categorized under 0, A or B then you will qualify. If C or above then unfortunately you do not

Hi All,

Thank you for the help. I checked the links, but happens to fall under "Adminstrative Officer".

I hope they open this category soon. ( very very hopeful).

Please wish me good luck.

They excluded the six occupations (including Adminstrative Officer) because there was a disproportionate number of applications in progress for those occupations. They may well reopen CEC to those occupations once the current surplus has been dealt with, but as they are all skill level B occupations, you can bet that the sub-cap of 200 applications will be filled quickly.

Dear LPS,

So what do I gather from your comment? Do I stand a good chance in the near future or do I start looking for a job under another qualifying category? Or I wait for April/May 2014 when the new list will be out?

My work permit expires in Aug 2015.

I suggest spelling out "CCR" - since it sounds like you're in the financial services industry, you should be aware that there are specific NOCs for that sector. Unfortunately, many of the entry-level positions are classified as Skill Level C, which will not help you with the CEC application. Your best bet is if your employer agrees that NOC 6235 is the best match -

1434 Banking, insurance and other financial clerks
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=1&val1=1434&val11=credit&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0
e.g. credit application clerk

6551 Customer services representatives – financial institutions
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=6&val1=6551&val11=credit&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

6235 Financial sales representatives
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=6&val1=6235&val11=credit&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

Thank you so much jes_ON

This has really opened my eyes as was not aware of these complications while accepting the job offer. I doubt my boss will give me such a letter, as I am working for a bank but on contract through an agency.

I will have to start from scratch again.

I have a few questions:- My OWP expires in August 2015. If by chance I find a new job under a qualifying category within a month or two then I will finish my one year of work before my OWP expires and I stand a good chance to apply for my PR. In case it takes longer and my one year of work experience finishes after my OWP has expired. Do I stand a chance to get an extension on my OWP? And if so how long will the duration be?

I haven't visited my homecountry for 2 years now. While I am on this temporary job( they have given me an extension until Oct"14) Do you think I will be able to go out of canada for 2 weeks and get a re-entry ?

Your answers on the above will be highly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
