Hey PR,

Firstly, i'm not expert in this line of work (finance) and I am hoping that someone who has worked in finance would jump in soon to answer your query more accurately.

Having said that, it wont hurt if we can clarify few basics first. It would be helpful to know your current official title mentioned in your employer's letter. Is it more closer to any title in 1113 or 6235?

A glance at your role and responsibilities makes me believe that 1113 is actually more closer. Perhaps Financial Sales & Service officer title? If im getting it correct (so correct me if im wrong) it seems your role is in a call center - selling the financial products. You are making cold calls, right?

The NOC code 6235 your lawyer is suggesting is more appropriate for some one dealing with stocks/bonds, trading, securities etc. Someone like an investment manager sitting in the corner office in a bank. Customers come to them to ask where to put their money etc...That's just my layman understanding of 6235 and I could be wrong.

Perhaps you might be doing those over phone too. Perhaps you have taken those exams and licenses mentioned for 6235. If you see your job description and qualifications more similar to 6235 of course go for it. But just make sure, you are not the only seeing that way. If your work mate, your supervisor or a person from your HR team agrees with that, then yea totally go for it. Cuz the last thing you want is an email after 3-4 months saying your Noc code doesnt match your role..right? No one wants that to happen.

You may also want to inquire your lawyer as to why 6235 and why not 1113. Perhaps they have a good solid reasoning for suggesting 6235. But ultimately its your file and you have a right to know every little detail your lawyer takes on your behalf. You may do one more thing - not sure how friendly is your supervisor. You can print out 6235's roles and responsibilities take it to your supervisor and ask if it fits your current job description. Just a thought..

All the best.

First of all thanks for your reply. Well I was talking to my lawyer and he strongly suggests NOC 6235 as he says my role and mandate is more accurately reflected under this code duento the fact that I am selling basic financial products like loans and mutual funds. NOC 6235 is for Financial Services Representative my job title is Outbound Relationship Representative my Lawyer says NOC code 1113 is for a person that strictly deals with stocks bonds mf etc. Not my case because I also do account openings setting online banking small loans renewal of mortgages but I also sell mutual funds but he says that 6235 ( financial sales representative) is definitely more accurate according to the information employer gave me. According to what I read you also incline towards NOC 6235 like my lawyer just that you got confused with NOC 1113 (which is for stocks bonds striclty etc). HRSDC where te ones that got confused. However I beleive 6235 better describes my job looking at my mandate and letter provided by enployer. What do you think?

I agree with your lawyer, NOC 6235. (HRSDC tends to evaluate "up", CIC tends to evaluate "down.")

Sorry PR. I got it completely reversed. Yes you are totally right - 6235 is the one that aligns with your job description.

Work experience : Sept 2012 to date of reference letter (June 25, 2013)? If you are going to submit your application next week, it's less than a year of full time skilled work experience.

Hey PR,

How did your application went? I'm in the same position as you but yet to complete 1 year working as an Outbound Financial Service Rep.

I'm very confused with the NOC Code. Still not sure if it's 6235. Kindy, help me with any information you might have. Thanks

Dear All,

I went to an immigration consultant today & told me that I may not eligible as per my occupation Title. I then showed them my unit group 1113 that it is mentioned clearly mutual fund sales representative and told them that I may working in my country's biggest mutual funds Co with a track record of 50 years but they told me that my title is not matching with the group defined title - My title is Junior marketing officer but in industry it is considered as (mutual fund sales representative) there is a body that issues certificate of mutual fund sales agent as per the law it is necessary for all the person selling mutual funds to any client to complete the certification but still v less people do it so i haven't done it even

... the immigration lawyer said it is not allowed to apply with a different title even if your job roles are exactly the same as mentioned in the job description.. but Do u think it is fair I don't think so ??? What's your idea and they said that u need to get re-issued the experience letter from your Co. .... but I told them I can get letter re-issued with in bracket written as Jr marketing officer (mutual fund sales agent) but they said no. It will be hard to get such letter and my contract copy and pay stubs are all mentioned with Jr marketing officer.

It is also written in my contract that Co will make u appear in mutual fund sales agent certificate exam issued by institute of capitals market on completion of 1 year -in the last few clauses of the contract .

What do u guys suggest should i do ??? I am now planning to apply on my own but should i go for it or is there anyway else I can get the issue resovled ?
