I am confused as to where I should settle. I have family in Toronto but have also heard that Calgary and Edmonton have good prospects.
Any words of advice, I am a business analyst and my wife is a registered nurse.

I am not so familiar with your occupation. but with ur wife's occupation, it's in great demand in calgary and edmonton.
a friend of mine is a registered nurse and she told me that RN makes 30/hr when starting, and there are lots of overtime. raise every half of a year. everywhere is so desperate for registered nurses in alberta.

Greetings from Alberta!
You should be able to find jobs for yourself and your wife without delay in either Edmonton, or Calgary. The life in both cities is expensive. If you want to buy a decent house(1500-2000sq.ft.) be prepared to pay 600,000 and up. If you want to rent, it's around 1200-1500 for half-decent 2-bedroom appartment. Edmonton is more red-neck than Calgary, Calgary has more to offer, and is pricier than Edmonton. If you like Rockie Mountains, it's closer to Calgary. Hope it helps. I can tell you that Alberta will be booming for a little while!

Hi ttblis

Calgary is an excellent option, it is a beautiful city, that is still growing, a lot of job opportunities, just as our friend consultant just wrote; it is quite expensive but it worth it.

For instance, just to give you a reference Wall-mart offers for Full Time employees more than $17 CAD per hour and part time about $16 CAD... if it is on lower positions use you imagination on the highest ones… that is why Calgary is such expensive…

I am so happy to being settled myself here at Calgary ( fyi...I pay for two bedroom apartment $1289 CAD per month)

Good look in your settlement search.

Alberta is showing graet success in its economy. Edmonton and Calgary seems more suitable cities to settle these days and hope more improvement in the economic activities. So you have more opportunities there.

Good Luck
