Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I just finished my medical "exam" and now I'm more confused than when I started. A couple questions, $150 check and a note for labs and x-Ray? That was it? I feel like I missed something.

Presumably they checked your eyesight, did a general physical exam (listened to your chest, took your blood pressure, checked your mouth/ears), weighed you and "tested" you to make sure that your mental abilities were normal (mine just said "so, it is 4 years since you......... when it had been 7, lol) ?

Other than that, the questionaire you completed and questions you answered, then going for blood tests and an xray (that's what the papers are for), yup, that's pretty much it! The results of the blood tests and xray together with the results from your physical exam and the answers you gave will all be sent to the Medical division for approval.

Be glad you didn't get one that wanted to do a complete physical (including internals for women)!

:D

Edit: There is a list of things they are supposed to do in the DMP handbook here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//resources/publications/dmp-handbook/section-11.asp

my medical exam involved a physical exam and questionnaire with a doctor--he listened to breathing, checked ears and eyes, palpated my abdomen and then asked me several questions about my medical history. It took about 15 minutes. The nurses also checked my eyesight, blood pressure, temperature, collected blood and urine for tests and I got a chest x-ray.

I thought the $200 I paid sounded like a bargain for all that!

Maybe my 'mental capabilities' were being tested when he asked about 20 times what kind of visa I was in Canada on.. when I said each time I was on a week long visit from the US and needed no visa! :P

My IQ test was, I took five pictures to the DMP, but they only wanted four?

I also had a conversation with the DMP about this forum, it didn't impact my medical :D

I think the IQ test I got was when he asked me in the initial questionnaire part: Have you had any surgeries?

I said: yes, I had my appendix out

Then 5 minutes later, in the physical exam, he asked: what are these scars on your belly??!!

My answer: Well, when they took my appendix out, they used this device called a scalpel to make what they call an incision...

Just kidding, I was very nice. I was kind of laughing inside though...

I got none of that. I think he listened to my chest, that was all. Asked my height and weight. He saw I was wearing glasses so no eye exam. I was honestly in there for like ten minutes and 75% of that was him filling out paperwork as I waited. I felt like I wasted my $150. Very very strange.

Some people may think you got off lucky. 150 is pretty cheap too. As long as they do the paperwork right that's all that matters, really.
