Hi There,
I was born and raised in Canada and I got married to my Brazilian husband earlier this year and we are planning to head out this afternoon to send off the documents for his PR visa...yay!
We're currently living in Brazil as his dad took ill just a short time after our wedding. Anyway, we just paid online and now looking at the receipt it looks like I need to enter a Canadian address...But we're not in Canada right now...Is this going to be a problem? Can I just put down my mom's address (which is where we were living, the address we put down in our application as our Canadian address, and is where we will be living initially until we get settled once we arrive in Canada) ?

Also - the reciept...I'm reading that I need to provide copy 2 along with our visa application, and that it's form # IMM-5401...But I don't see that # anywhere on the reciept, and I don't wanna send the wrong thing, so where is this "IMM-5401" form?
And lastly, on the receipt it asks for a Client ID #....I don't know what that is! Where do I find that number?
Thanks for your help/replies/advice in advance, and God bless! :)

Hi

Are you applying outland or inland? Silly question perhaps but your address has confused me.

If its outland then just put the address that you reside at in (Brazil).

If inland, put your Mom's address.

You can also, if outland, put resident address Brazil and mailing address Canada if you expect to return to CA whilst your application is being processed.

When you print your receipt, print 2 and and send one, that's what I did.

You won't have a client ID number until your application is processed (or the process started).

Edit: if you have only listed your Canadian address and your credit card etc is registered there you will need to put that one.

Whoopi.

Hi, Thanks for your quick response!
We're in Braziil right now...
I'm just trying to figure this out, because on the "Document Checklist" it says that we need to fill out the "Copy 2 reciept" complete and properly...But how can we do that if we don't have a client ID# yet? I read on the CIC website that this number will come when we recieve a document from a visa office...So how can we be expected to have this number already? I'm really confused on that, do we just leave that part blank then? we really needed to send our application today and now it doesn't look like it's going to happen...Oh well...
And are you sure it's okay to put a Brazilian address? Because there aren't enough spaces on the Reciept form where it asks for postal code, phone number, etc?
Also we used my father in law's credit card to pay for the visa...and in the application we have listed both our Brazilian address, and my mother's address in Canada as our previous residence...What do you think we should do in this case? Thanks ever so much for advice! It's so appriciated, God bless Whoopi!

Yes, you leave that part blank and send it off.
Some fees can be paid later in the processing, when the person already has a client ID. In that case, one fills it out. Or if you've ever dealt with CIC before (for example if you applied for a visitor's visa), then you would already have a client ID. Since you don't, you leave it blank.
The 'Copy 2' is in reference to the receipt that you can get if you intend to pay at a bank, so ignore it. Just send the printed receipt, filled out with the info.

Just be aware that if you don't pay both the application and right of permanent residence fee (RPR) now that your application can be delayed by 1-2 months when they have to ask you to pay for the RPR fee. If you can afford it, pay both now.

All the best to everyone else and their applications! Canada is amazing country, and I'm feel sooo thankful to be Canadain sometimes, God bless our country! :)

One last thing...
This may seem like a silly question, but should I send the whole page (Copy 1 & 2) of the reciept? Or cut the page in half to just give them Copy 2? Does it matter? :p
