Hi there i was sponsored by my wife, and landed as immigrant last FEB 2012...I secured all necessary documents like SIN, Health card, bank accounts, etc and recieved my PR card last MAY 2012. After i received my PR card i decided to go back in my country (last MAY 2012) for some reasons... My concern is, my wife always calling me and insisting that there is a new policy from the immigration that if you are a first time immigrant for this period of time you are only allowed to stay outside canada for a maximum of 3 months,so if youre not coming back to CANADA 3 months after your departure, your PR card will be revoked. She told me that she spoke one of the consul from CIC. How true is this? is there anyone know about this policy? Im very much worried about it. As far as i know, the only policy i know is, you should live 2 out of 5 years in canada, your PR card will remain valid. Thanks and GOD bless to all :)

There is no such rule. Your wife just misses you very much and wants you to come back soon :)

Thanks Leon... so is this means that even i will go back to CANADA on February 2013,theres no problem with my PR status? and also theres no hastle at POE? Iam very much worried about it, because almost everyday my wife telling me about this 3 months outside CANADA for the first time immigrant.

one more query, is there a problem if i wrote the immigration and i told them that i will have my vacation for 3 months only?but in fact iam planning to have my vacation for 10 months, i gave them also a copy of my rountrip e-ticket just to expedite my PR card. Is there a problem if i will not follow what i told to them? What should i do? Thanks and more power :)

No, there is no problem with that.

You won't have any problems returning in February 2013. Again, there is no three month rule and it doesn't matter if you originally planned a three month trip and have now decided to stay longer.

thanks, hope my wife will gonna belived me now :)She even gave me the cic website but i didnt see any new policy what shes tlaking about... anyway thanks and more power :)

Dear Leon,

We plan to land this year as PR under Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program.
Will the minimum stay of 730 days in 5 years also applies to us? We plan
to go back to Dubai to Dubai for another year and continue work. Then
will settle there in Manitoba after a year.

Aopreciate your opinion regarding this.

Yes - the 730 days in 5 years rule applies to you. This rule applies to all PRs.
