Dear respected members

I did my masters on engineering management. The course had component of engineering as well as management degree

How ever I have 1 year of experience in support center as technical advisor. The minimum requirement for the job is college diploma or university degree. The job requires your technical ability as well as management skill

I am confused if the immigration officer will think my job and degree is in different field?

Please provide me with your insight...

When did you apply for your CEC application? Under which NOC and when was your qualifying period of experience?

Hello retwant

Thank you for your response. I will apply in February 2015 that is when my 1 year completes. My job is in NOC B 2282.

When did you graduate from your study? When did you obtain your PGWP?

I thought it doesnt matter.
As long as you working experience qualified under NOC 0, A B.

Correct me if Im wrong on that. :o

Well because I need more detail before giving any specific advise. There are certain NOC and work experience that cannot be used to qualify for CEC.

hey retwant

my NOC B 2282 and i know this is a valid NOC but only confusion is my masters degree. Will it create any issue for this particular NOC?

I graduated on 14th jan 2014 and got my PGWP on 28th JAN 2014

Since recession, there many cases of overqualified people doing other jobs. So in terms of job requirement, most likely you should be fine. But different VOs might have different perspective about job requirements & duties, so the dice is on their hand.

Have you taken any unpaid vacation yet? It is recommended to have contingency in your qualifying experience. Not to mention that there was a debate whether experience obtained after graduation using Off Campus Work Permit will be counted. There were cases that the VO counted and others didn't. If you didn't take any unpaid vacation, maybe would be a good idea to submit your application after the 2nd week of February. Better safe than sorry...

Thank you soo much. YES i did take 3 weeks of unpaid vacation. I am not worried about the duration. I can even apply in MARCH as i have PGWP till 2017. My only concern is y master degree. However, in my job description it says minimum education requirement is college diploma or university degree.

IMO, being overqualified for a job does not affect your application much as long as the job one is performing specifically asks for a particular course of studies. If your NOC is eligible under CEC and you meet the minimum education requirements for the job, you are fine.

Just make sure you got a well prepared reference letter, as well as provide enough contingency for your qualifying experience. If you had 3 weeks of unpaid vacation, maybe a good idea to have the letter dated early March...
