Hi Colleagues,

I have a quick question regarding my situation I am residing in Canada and working on Implied Status. I have received ready to visa email last week of December, and I have sent the passport to CIC Ottawa with the letter stating that my spouse's visa is processed back home as my spouse is not in Canada. Today, I received Confirmation of my PR (two pages, one page has picture) + Passport with immigrant Visa issued With almost 4 months validity + covering letter.

I am the principal applicant for PR application.

Question 1.. Would I be able to exit and enter through port of entry till my wife's visa is issued?

Question 2. If I have to wait for landing till my spouse's visa issued, would I able to continue working I am a landed PR?

I would request quick response from you folks.

Thanking you in anticipation,

Thanks

if you leave canada without activating your PR, you lose your implied status. so no, don't come and go waiting on your wife's visa to be issued.
if you wait to land until your wife gets her visa & landing papers, so long as you remain in Canada, you're still on implied status. you don't become a landed PR until you officially land at a port of entry.

To be on implied status, you must have applied for a new work permit - is this true? If you ARE on implied status and want to keep working, you cannot leave Canada - once you leave Canada, you lose implied status.

Of course, you can LAND as a PR when you return, but your spouse should receive her COPR before you do.

??? not clear - I hope you mean that you requested that your spouse's application be finalized "at home" (nearest appropriate visa office). If you haven't requested it, you cannot assume it will be done automatically.

Not advised. Again, you cannot leave if you want to keep your implied status. You can leave Canada, but without status, you cannot return, and you should not land as a PR before your wife receives the COPR.

However, as Principal Applicant, you can land before your wife lands, but you should wait until she gets her COPR. Once she gets her COPR, you can land and continue working.

You really should be asking CIC these questions...

Hi Purple snow. . CIC has advised in the covering letter that don't go to port of entry or nearest CIC location for PR landing till visa of accompanying member is issued. Thank you for confirming that I continue to work on implied status till then as my work permit extension application is in progress.

Thank you Jes alot for your detailed response. Yes my work permit extension application is in progress so I believe I can work from now until I land as pr once my wife receives COPR..

Even after I land.. I can continue working as PR.. so j believe my status is changed from Implied to PR when I land as PR.

You can continue to work on Implied Status after landing provided you have applied for it before the expiry of your original work permit.

Yes i applied for extension of my work permit, Oct 17th before the expiry of previous work permit. I believe once i land, i will work as PR right? I will wait until CoPR+ VISA of my wife is issued. Right after that I will go to US-Canada port of entry to land as PR

I am in sort of a similar situation. My wife is in India but I brought her passport with me along with a notarized authorization letter stating that she is giving me permission to carry her passport etc. But in my situation i will have to take a trip to India after COPR because you can not mail passport to India from Canada. Anyway, wish you all the best!
