Hi all,

So after the long wait of 7 months my wife finally got accepted and received the Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form. Yes!! Right? Not quite it seems. There is an error for her marital status, which for some odd reason states that she is single. We are married, and it states under my info, titled Sponsor Information- relationship- that I am spouse. So, quite strange.

We think we need to fill out the request to amend forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/amend.asp
Of course, we do not want to fill out more forms, and wait any longer! These forms are also tedious and ask for lots of information and supporting documents. Why when they make the mistake must we suffer with more forms.

We are wondering what to do. If we leave across the border and come back to confirm her status, can they amend the marital status at the border?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks folks!

You should immediately raise an urgent Case Specific Enquiry about the error with the issuing visa office. Single v married is a significant error and they may insist on it being corrected before landing. If they don't, the CBSA officer should correct it during the landing interview. The link that you referred to is probably inappropriate, given the circumstances.

Thanks for your reply Zardoz!

I wish it were as easy as contacting the Manilla office, but they don't allow for direct inquiries. You must write to them- which I have- and has taken from a day- to a month to hear back.
And for Canada, the CIC office I cannot even get through to a human being. I don't even think the option is available- or may not be possible. Does anyone know if you can talk to real humans at the Canada CIC office by phone?
The border office we plan to cross also has no contact number: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/offices-bureaux/299-eng.html

Anyways, I read that people have gotten things such as address and eye color changed at the border crossing. However, I am not sure how marital status would fair in that situation.

Use this link and mark it "Urgent" in both the subject and body. https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=manila

Thanks guys for your help! Really appreciated!
Sent out a mail but this time put URGENT, so hopefully that speeds things up!

I will actually update with my results. Surely this thread could be useful to those whom may encounter the same problem in the future.
