I know and have been told this is new for anyone granted PR under common law has a 2 year condition on their PR stating tey have to cohabit with their sponsor
Does anyone have experience with this? Anyone have this and I so did you leave Canada at any point and did or what was said to u when you re entered?
I have to finish my job contract until the end of June and I am set to initially land to establish PR in 3 weeks and then come back to the US

Job contract is a serious reason to go to USA. No worries.

But yes you are getting a conditional PR and only two years later you will get a "real PR" if your wife and you will be able to prove to CIC that your union has been genuine these years.

It's a fairly new rule so as far as I know, nobody lost their PR yet because of it but yes, if you have been common law for 2 yrs. or less when you apply and you have no kids, you will have a 2 year conditional PR. If your wife signs off that you are still together, I doubt there will be any problem renewing it though.

Cohabitation rule was Oct/25/2012. So if a person submitted the sponsorship on that date, and the application only took 4 months to process, they would land about Mar/13, so the earliest the regulation could kick in would be March/2015.

Thanks for the responses. Turns out there might be a mistake as we had lived together for more than 2 yes prior to filing the application so technically the condition shouldn't be on there. My immigration lawyer is going to call to see if they can take it off. I hope they do

London made that mistake on my COPR. I had them reissue the COPR with no conditions. Took about a month to receive the correct one,.

Really I need it in 2 weeks I'm set to land on the 17! Everything is paid for! And I'm out of my apt in NYC do you think they can expedite it? Did you ask

In your position, I'd probably land using the COPR with the condition. I don't think that 2 weeks is enough time to sort this out.

You can mention the 2 year condition when you land but I don't know if they are able to do anything about it then and there.

So a COPR can be changed after using it to land??

Nope... What it can have is "minor" corrections applied to it at the time of landing. Things such as eye colour or height. I have no idea if they can or would remove Condition 51. My guess is no, so you would land WITH the condition active, and hope that either you don't need to defend it or that it never becomes an issue.
