Yes read this....momi do you have any accommodation planned or will you go and find it when you reach montreal? I was initially planning to book a cheap hotel for 4-5 days and then look for a decent place as i dont have any friends/family there. And that is what the ISO guide recommends as well.

But recently a Pakistani phd student tells me that it is not a very good idea! i am a little concerned......

No planning done until visa ,just waiting. I will do as u did and then search for some accommodation , did he gave any reason ...

No visa yet , Applied computer science...
 
Because I am also worried about accommodation and every thing need to sort out flight tickets and rest first

No he did not mention the reason, but he said that get a one month lease and then find other accommodation

I have a problem, almost all the flights are full and I am planning to take a flight on 7 of sep and the classes starts on 5 do I have to inform any one in the univ

Ask them and do let me know that if we can start classes late..........

Yes you need to inform them and ask for advice, btw students being late is something very usual
