Concerns related to the acceptance of Visa considering the gap after my Advanced Levels

Dear All,

I am a student from Sri Lanka.

I would like to know whether my study permit could be accepted by the IRCC since, I have done my advanced levels before 5 years & now applied at a Canadian University to study a Bachelors degree in which the university has accepted it through a mail confirmation.

I would appreciate if somebody can clear my doubt considering the concerns pertaining to the gap & how i could convice them to prove my stance ?

As long as you fully explain to them what you were doing in those 5 years (work etc), the study gap is not a problem.

I need to make sure there is no rule emphasizing to apply for a bachelor within one year after the completion of advanced levels. Thanks. I find this very useful. How can I Explain? Is it thru a personal statement or what?

I applied after 3 years of gap. My alevel results date May 2015. I got my visa for may 2018 intake.

Gap is never a problem is you can explain it. What were you doing during this 5 years gap may i ask?

Yea SOP is the only way to convince the Visa officer you are a bona-fide student. Usually some people leave education after high school and when they suffer from unemployment they suddenly decided to resume education with parents support. Canada immigration officers discourage this. So you have to explain them a genuine reason for this gap. Reasons acceptable can be travelling, illness, work experience (with proof), preparing for applying in Canada and deciding which university to study in. If your previous academics is impressive and you chose an degree relating to your previous education and get accepted, all you need to do is write a strong SOP and explain the gap in details and then explain how this degree will help you persue your future goals and how the skills will be helpful to you.

I thought of getting a BBA degree at overseas. I am unable to complete chartered studies due to some reasons and now planned to get a BBA overseas. Does my reason convincing enough ?

The reason seems good. If you are studying BBA on Accounting then there will be no problem. You will just have to prove your experience through experience letter. And then in your SOP just mention that you wanted to gain some experience by working in the field of Accounting before you apply for your Bachelors degree so that by the end of your graduation you will have both experience and a degree and this is essential for your future Accounting career. Also mention that you decided to work immediately after high-school as the course load will be much hectic during university.

One more thing. Every gap has to be explained. Unexplained gap will cause problems. You mentioned that a personal reason due to which you coudnt finish ur CA studies. That is the main explanation you the visa officer will be looking for. If you think you can't mention the actual reason, mention that the quality of education the institute was providing you wasn't good. You weren't gaining good educational experience that you believe will be needed for your future career. Hence you decided to leave the institute and look for good degrees in good universities all around the world and thats when you found your prefered canadian university. Boast some features about the university so that the VO gets proof that you are a bona-fide student with only the intent to study.

If you are successful at explaining all these in a good structured SOP, its very likely you will get your visa.
