Hi all,

I have around 4 years of work experience in IT-Network Administrator with a Bachelors Degree in the related field and planning to apply for a skilled visa. Before doing so, i have a few basic doubts which i would very much like to clear before starting my process. On CIC website, i see that in the 38 occupations listed there , for IT/Computer field the experience required is in "Computer and Information Systems Managers". So, does that mean that i being an IT-Network Administrator doesn't qualify?

The second doubt i have is whether i should pass my IELTS before or after starting my process.

Thanks for your help.

job duties are more importannt than title..

it is advisable that u give ielts before application becuase by doing it u r sure about ur point...
u can give ielts during the process..u have to submit the ielts result with full application to ur CHC.

hope it helps.

Management experience is required to qualify under NOC 0213.... You can check this link for further details.

So that means i have no chance ? :(

Btw, what does the "Classified elsewhere" section mean ? Because i see computer engineers there.

What other options do i have to immigrate to Canada if not as a skilled professional excluding investment etc.. ?

Thanks for replies guys !

Classified elsewhere means some of the titles under 0213 here may also fall under other NoC's. The other titles are further classifications or specializations.

RK2009, i shld write 0213... what I wrote in the form was 2171... since they are asking for NOC. somebody here got rejected bec 2172 didnt qualify in the 38 NOC.. did u write 0213 under NOC in your form?!?

If you have experience as a manager for at least 1 year and perform duties specified, you can apply for 0213. If you have only qualified for 2171, its not a good idea to right 0213 as it can be rejected. Its been a long time but I had 2174 and 0213 as my NoC's.

If your experiences does not fall under one of the 38 positions, you may still apply under FSW, however you will need an approved AEO from an employer in Canada.

If your age is appropriate and you have sufficient funds, you may come into Canada as a student and take on a 2 year diploma/certificate program from an accredited institution, upon receiving your certificate and 1 year of relevant work experience in Canada, you may apply for PR under CEC or PNP from some provinces(PNP may require less working experience).

Well said Helios, I rated you up.

Thanks.

Thanks, I just wanted to help out when I can, since I work for an immigration consultant company. The rating doesn't seem to appear, not that it matters much.

thanks rk2009! actually my husband is the principal applicant & I was the one made all the documents filled up..and have lots of time to join the forum & seek advices from here who inspired me to file an application. This is helpful & informative site coming from all experienced & nice people like you too..

Btw, he performed managerial duties for the past 3 years but what I thought 2171 is the specific duties... since I found in the website to write NOC in the form.. nyways it is still under 0213 job specs. Hope they consider my work too as a spouse since Im eligible to apply for RN w/ 3yrs experience (maybe no bearing at all)
Just crossing my fingers to have approve application and relax while waiting ;D

Will it work if i don't have the title of IT Manager but performaing responsibilities of more or less that of a manager?

I don't think i will be having sufficient funds to take the student option.

Do i have any chance through provincial-nomination-program?

Thanks once again for your replies guys!

I do not think they are looking for designations but they need you to have performed activities which map to what they describe in the NOC.

Frankly the decisions for 0213 have been random based on this forum, folks who had designations were rejected and others who had descriptions only were also rejected, it seems to be on the IO's interpretation of your duties as well as your previous experience.

Personally I feel, If you strongly feel you can be promoted to a manager or accepted as a manager in another company based on what you are doing, I would choose 0213.
