So myself and three siblings were born in Canada to Canadian parents. We moved to the UK when I was 4. My mum married a British man who then adopted us.
We have British adoption certificates. Our original birth certificates were destroyed (apparently the registry office has no obligation to keep foreign documents).
We'd love to visit the Country We were born in. We are being told that under no circumstances can we travel into Canada with our British passports.
However trying to get ahold of a copy of our original birth certificates to then get Canadian passports is proving near on impossible.
I applied for an eTA just to see what would happen, gave them all my details, in the box which asks if there is anything if like to add I said..that I was born in Canada, adopted in the UK and have a British adoption certificate with no access to any original documents....the eTA was approved. Is that just a fluke? All details I gave were correct.
