Hi. I applied for my Thai wife's permanent residence last July. I was approved as sponsor in August. In September, I submitted through inquiry online services a change in our application: dependent child would accompany us to Canada (rather than non-accompanying). December, Singapore asks for our passports. We send them via Bangkok and pay for the service. Then, they say they were not informed of the change in the application. Singapore says the change must be made with Mississauga. I send messages online, but 10 days later, they respond that I cannot ask for a change in the name of the principal applicant. So, my spouse sends a fax, an email, and two letters to Mississauga asking tio make the change in the application. Tionight, I got an email, to my name (the sponsor), asking for new form IMM1344, IMM0008, IMM5669, IMM5406, birth certificate, child's passport, medical examination. Some of these I had already sent along with the original application (birth certificate, copy of passport, medical examination). An immigration lawyer who is connected to this website said to me that a change like that is small and should not delay the application. OK, what's wrong here? Why am I taken around in circles? What am I doing wrong? How long will Singapore keep our passports? Does this "little change" bring us back to zero in terms of delays? I am getting quite desperate with all this. Any word of encouragement would be welcome.

I can't say for sure since I'm not applying through the same visa office. However, from what I've heard, adding information or making changes to your application typically does result in delays.

OK. I'm exercising patience now. Filled all the forms, may of them I had submitted originally, but they're probably in Singapore. We'll see what happens. Thanks to all. Mike
