Hello,

I live in Ottawa and I received the COPR letter for my wife who is an American citizen and residing with me as a visitor for now. I was wondering can I do the next step right here in Ottawa without going to a port of entry? I dont want to go all the way to the border by car :( ... When I called CIC she said I can go to 200 Catherine Street but she did not give me appointment or anything? Do you guys have any answers? THANK YOU :)

you need to make an appointment directly with an immigration office, and reports indicate it can take months to get an appointment. Ii've never heard of just going to catherine street and doing it, so if you try it and succeed, let people know. the quickest and easiet thing to do is drive to the border. there is a border only 1 hour from ottawa (prescott), so it doesn't take long to get there.

Alright Thank you, I will try it Monday or Tuesday and then let you know but I guess if not I will just drive to prescott

Hello I went to the Catherine office today and they said that it was possible to complete the COPR at there office but they do it every other Tuesday from 9-12 so I will have to go next Tuesday. I might go to the border but I was wondering if they would complete the papers for me on Christmas day? What do you guys think?

The border never closes, not even on Christmas Day.

Ok, an immigration lawyer told me they close it and put up Christmas trees to block it off. To make people smile even though they are frustrated the border is closed.

borders are open 24/7 365 days a year.

That was a joke on the expense of incompetent immigration lawyers.

Not all border crossings offer immigration services 24/7. Large crossings like Ft. Erie do. But small ones don't necessarily. It's important to verify hours of operations before trying to flagpole.

thats actually correct..thanks for correction. Some borders are open 24/7 but only offer immigration services from certain hours. The prescott border immigration is available 7am-midnight daily
