LANDED..........
Sep 2012
Folks,
Finally we completed our landing at Toronto (Pearson Airport) and became permanent residents of Canada. I must admit, it was a no hassle landing. There were no butterflies in my stomach, as I had before whenever I landed in US (not knowing what would happen at port of entry despite having proper visa).

Overall process took not more than 20 min. The officers were very nice and cordial. They did not ask me for proof of funds. I just told them how much I have and they made an entry in COPR document. We were also given booklets and brochures on how to settle down in Canada. Since there are no goods to follow, I did not provide them with any list. They stapled a copy of COPR to our passports and asked to keep that document forever as it was our proof of landing. Where ever we go (SIN office, Banks), they look for copy of COPR.

He have our SIN done and opened bank accounts (Scotia bank has program for newly landed immigrants). Visited Niagara falls that looks amazing from Canadian side. Spent good amount of time in Malls and bought clothes.

Since I have already lived in US for almost 8 years, getting into Canada did not have much excitement as in place. But, I will definitely tell you one thing that the peace of mind I had in Canada was never there as long as I lived in US. I do not regret decision of leaving US and settling down in Canada. Canadian economy is doing far better than US and less hassle for me as an Immigrant. Despite reading negative posts on 'Do not come to Canada' stuff, I can totally say avoid reading them as there are plenty of opportunities in Canada.

Happy to be here~!

Welcome to Canada and Toronto.

Me landed 5 months ago.

I would definetly admit that the officers at Pearson are extremely helpful and respect the people.
