Hi,

I worked at a smaller size company for about 1 and 1/2 years
I didnt take IELTS so did not apply for CEC yet.

I am a university graduates in Toronto.
Anyways, I have met my hours of work and occupation criteria too.
however my company is about to close down because it's not making enough
money for the boss to keep it running.

is this going to affect my CEC immigration result?
also how long does CEC take now? because I only have about 13months left on my Work Permit.

Thank you in advance

I would first make sure to get a Letter of reference from your boss/supervisor. the letter should include:
- specific period of your employment with the company
- job title
- main responsibilities / duties
- salary
- hours worked per week

you should include a letter to CIC explaining your company's situation so if they do contact the # of your company, they know whats going on. you could also provide your boss/supervisor's phone number just incase they want to contact someone regarding your work experience

assuming you've obtained your 1+ yr of experience with a job under NOC 0, A, or B , you are eligible to apply for CEC; whether your company closing would affect your application is totally up to the VO's opinion. But make sure to get your work experience letter from your boss. Good Luck

Just make sure to obtain a detailed employment letter from your manager, and also include a letter explain the current situation of your company.

Your company is going out of business does not mean you as an individual are not making positive contribution to the economy. As long as you paid tax, obtained skilled work exp, demonstrated your ability to contribute to the Canadian society, I don't see why VO will reject your case simply because your company is not doing well.

If your employment ends with this company, you should also get a "Record of Employment" or ROE. Your company will either (a) Complete it by hand, in which case they are REQUIRED to give you a copy, or (b) submit it by internet to Service Canada. If they do this, you can download a copy from Service Canada.

http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/ei/employers/roew.shtml#employees

You should submit a copy of this ROE as well.
