I was hired by a Canadian company, and they applied for my work permit in Quebec. All the information was to be sent through their offices. It was supposed to take 8-10 weeks to finalize it, and this week, which is the 8th week or so of submitting the application, they have withdrawn the offer to work. I would like to find out if the permit went through or not, and if it is still valid, even if I am not working for the company now. I don't want to contact my company directly, because they have very poor communication, and they may not actually withdraw the application until after it's approved.
I'm also interested in finding out, in the event they have withdrawn the application, if there is some sort of mark against me in Quebec/Canada.
Long story short is:
1. Can I contact Quebec/Canada directly to find out the status of my work permit, circumventing the company that applied for me.
2. If the permit was approved, can I still use it to work elsewhere in Canada?
3. If the permit was withdrawn or denied, can I find out if there's a mark against me applying in Canada later?
