All the company’s I have ever worked for never had an official seal. The reference letter however asks for it. How do I take care of this?

Even if it was not earlier there, now your company can have it, it cost peanut. In India starting from Rs 50/-. You can pay for that if they are reluctant to spend money.

What sort of companies are these having no seals ? Seal is required everywhere- banks, govt offices, contracts, letters, new telephone connection, court cases, balance sheets, tax papers

Re: Company's Official Seal

These are all US based company's.

I don't think its about the money, its just that they don't put a seal on any document.

Its corporate policy, that's the problem.

True! Even most of my work experience has been in US and I was wondering too what I should do about the company seal?? And btw, where do they need this seal?

I mean if my boss writes a reference letter on the company letterhead and signs the letter with his business card attached. Should the envelope be sealed (closed)?? If it has to be, maybe we can ask our boss to sign across the sealed envelope which would prove it came directly through him and we haven't opened it. I mean I dont know what am I going to do too....

Everyone who has worked in the US, any feedback? How have you gotten your reference letters??

If everyone in US is doing this, then there is no problem, Visa officer would be knowing about it.

Dear Bhavna,

That's a surprising predicament. How come a company performs business transactions w/out company stamp* on their letters? Be it in the US or elsewhere. I haven't heard that -in the Gulf, North Americas & in Europe too.

I guess they were being just 'casual' in not stamping their letters [even on the letter heads], same might be with your Exp. Certs. But, if one insists -they ought to. Most business transactions would require the company stamp, everywhere.

BTW: Your previous Exp Certs. not having those might not be a problem. CHC understands that some employers may be reluctant to stamp those; & also, it'll be extremely difficult for u to 'now' try to obtain them. So relax on that issue. However, for the current ones -it'd be advisable if u could manage them with the company 'seals'.

All the best !
Qorax

*Dear SBO, this is the 'seal' s/he is referring to [I guess, Bhavna?].

I don't believe, Multi National company does not have any seal or stamp.....

May be, they are avoiding to provide experience certificate or They may be lazy to prepare documents...

Any seniors, Who have gone through this. Pls Advice.
Bhavna it should not be a problem, most of companies in Idia do not stamp company seal even on appointment letter, relieving letter etc.

If reference letter is on comapny letter head and you have contact information of person signing it ( either on lettr head or Business card) you have enough documentation for reference letter

Re: Company's Official Seal

This is true all official letters and reference letters writen by any US Business or firm are issued without any Seal or Stamp.
Only signature of the person is needed. And the reason are simple you can verify those letters by contacting the person how sign the letter directly.

I have been in the US for 10 years now and I have not seen a single letter that bears the seal of a company or institution except for Government offices.

Bhavna, your letters should be fine if they are from US companies/institutions.

Re: Company's Official Seal

Hi Bhavana
The letters I have receoved from US companies do not have seal on them but they are on letter head with thicker paper. I hope this is not an issue. Recently i received the letter from my employer in India and even that letter did not had any seal on it though it was printed on bonded watermark paper.

Hi,
Please try your best to get your reference letters sealed. Most companies in the US do have seals, and however, they may choose not to seal their documents. This applies to US companies located in other countries as well. As long as your reference letter is on a company letterhead, you do not have to worry. I know this by working as a manager for in the US. Even comapnies operating under YUM Brands in Canada do not have seal thier documents most of the time. (YUM brands manager, vancouver, BC).
Hope this would take your frustration about sealing your letters away.
Good luck

Re: Company's Official Seal

Thanks for all the inputs, I'll try to talk with my employer again.

I guess they all have a seal with them, maybe it's just company policy of not providing a seal on the reference letter.
