I applied for canadian PR when I was in USA.

I am back to my home country. Not sure when I will return. but I have L1 and B1 visa though.

My previous communication address is not valid(friend moved out of the place)

I do not have my receipt number yet.

I would like to communication with the consulate.

Is it OK for me to says that I am not in USA now.

or should I just mention that here is my new communication address.

Please advice. Will I receive any "direct signature" mail from the consulate, meaning only I have to sign and receive the letter.

I think you need to communicate to Visa office about your new address and may be based on your new address visa office might transfer your file.

Thank you.

But should I mention that I am in India now.

or just send my communication address(friends address), where I am not living now. But I will get mail content.

CIO decides the visa office based on your current address ( address you mentioned while submitting your app to CIO) and if you changed at any time, I believe you need to inform them that you are now out of USA, so they might shift your case /file to CHC in your country ?
Don't hide this from them , they will anyhow come to know.

Good Luck

madhavan it's better to tell CIC about this change because ultimately would know about it moreover they will need to transfer your case to the country where you residing at the moment.

Madhavan,

below is what i would have done if i were you - :

In your case since a lot of time has already been elapsed i suggest u first write an email to ur visa office informing them abt your moving out of USA and that you are in india.

also inform them of the address change , Visa officie will transfer file only if you request - they wont transfer by default - they will process it in US itself except that address of communication will be ur address in India.

Now since you already have a US visa you dont have to worry abt attending interview in US/Sending passport to US from India - the thing which you need to worry abt is " What if Visa office has already sent some communication to your old address'/ What if they closed your case in absence of not hearing from you.

so write them an email asking the current status of ur application /also informing of address change, this is important.

Thanks,
