common law starting date?

I am new to this..and thank you in advance for your advices and experience. So i ve been dating my boyfriend for 1.5 years and we ve been living together in Canada for a year now.

We re still waiting on his vistor extension from ircc. My question is ...

To prove common law, which is different from proving genuine relatiionship...

Do we must have bills together? I am a Pr and he is a Us Lpr, i crossed the land border to pick him up a year ago.

Our first bill or bank statement started only end of may.

I would like to know if i can sponsor him from march 20th which is the date i crossed the border to pick him up.

Or can i sponsor him only from the date we start having bills (july) and end of may for Bank statement.

On my i94 i have tracking of day i crossed the border. what s the best ?

You need evidence of cohabitation that dates back a full year.

Him crossing the border is not evidence of cohabitation.

so even if i went to pick him up and i have a proof of that, it is not obvious that we started living together at this date?

could our file be automatically rejected or will ircc studies case by case? we dated 6 months before and have proof (travel, hotel, pictures etc).

For medical reason my bf needs to go back to the usa (his mother might pass away) and two months make a huge difference at this stage of her sickness. But it would mean going back there while on implied status and of course we dont want that ....

So is there a chance that ircc will consider we start cohabitation the day I crossed the border or does ircc consider that only bills can prove cohabitation? the federal definition of common law doesnt necessary include bills but i understand living like in a marriage relationship and under the same roof ... please help.

You picking him up only proves he crossed the border. Nothing else. It does not prove that you started living together then.

You need actual evidence to prove cohabitation that goes back a full year. This can include joint bills, joint bank account statements, joint leases, etc. The definition of common law is continuously cohabitating for a full year so this is what you need to prove (i.e. documents that show you have had a joint address for at least one year). You want to provide several different peices of evidence to support this.

Travel, hotel, pictures prove you are dating but do not prove you are common law.
