hey there,

i need some advice...

my partner declared bankruptcy back in February, 2011 but has been discharged since November, 2011...
will this affect our application in any way? my understanding is that as long as he has been discharged, we're good?
do we have to write a letter explaining why he declared bankruptcy etc. or are we just leaving it and not mentioning it further?

another question:
my partner is in the midst of a career change...he worked as a landscaper for the past 4 years, however wants to better his/our future and has been in training for hardwood flooring for the past couple of months.
one of our good friend has his own hardwood flooring company and is training my partner right now. he guarantees him a job once the training is done and he takes him on which will be in the near future.
for the time being my partner is on E.I...

our friend is willing to write a letter stating exactly that...will that cause any trouble?

thanks for the help in advance!
cheers, saskia

He discharged his bankruptcy, so that won't affect the application, dont need mention it. Being on EI won't hurt his application either, but you should include a letter explaining how he will support you once you are here.

great, thank you so much for the response.

we will enclose a letter about how he's going to support me (wage he's going to make once his friend takes him on full-time etc.) -
we've been living as a family (with his son) for the past 2 years; so he has been supporting me for a while already :)
