So me and my common law partner have filled out all the forms and prepared our application, I am just going to pay and send it away. But before that I have some questions regarding the maximum 20 photographs for the proof of relationship section.

We have been living together from January of 2020 till present. We have pictures with my partner's family during 2020. Whenever we gathered around family we made sure we were isolating and looking for symptoms 14days prior to the family meeting and if someone in the family was feeling any of the symptoms they didn't show up. Now that we are going to send these photos with our application, Will the immigration officer ask us why we have pictures with the family if there were restrictions? Even though we self isolated before?

I do not want to send those in ,if it'll make our application process longer or even worse being denied. Anyone with similar experience or anything related to this please let me know. Thank you.

Do I understand correctly, your concern is they're going to think you broke the covid gathering rules (and what, report you to someone)?

Not their job, they're not going to ask. Don't send them photos of your joint bank heists, though.

Haha, thanks for your reply. Yes that was my concern, hopefully they don't report or take more time to process.

Those pictures are going to do your application far more good (and are required for some applications) than any potential harm. They want to know your family knows about the relationship. Send the pictures and don't worry. IRCC officers aren't covid police and it's not like they're going to look at the dates and look up what the restrictions were where you were located on a given day.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I'm just paranoid because we are doing this application on our own without any agent help, I'll definitely send them in. Thank you.

Based on our experience doing it ourselves and the number of posts on here where consultants* (and even occasionally lawyers) screw up and big problems arise, don't be too anxious. Follow the instructions, ask questions here and triple check everything and you should be fine.

*Seriously, there seem to be multiple posts a week about consultants giving wrong info or having a client do something totally wrong.

Yeah that's true. If you don't mind me asking, did you get a decision yet for your application?

Yes - I'm a PR now. Wasn't common law as we're married but it was within two years of marriage which did require a bit extra on the proof of relationship. It was a remarkably straightforward process - arrived in Sydney Jan 2021, became a PR first week of August 2021.
