My partner and I applied for the common law visa sponsorship March 2021.

We've passed the medical and biometrics and have already been approved as a sponsor. But we haven't gotten any updates for the past 8 months.

We both currently live in Japan, and is considering getting married, as we've been engaged for 3 years.

We are hesitant because we're not sure how this will effect our visa application?

Would we need to start the entire application again if we did get married? Would it be advised to hold off the marriage? Or would it be as simple as notifying the IRCC

Looking forward to hearing from anyone! Trying to speak to an agent at the IRCC is extremely difficult.

Kindest regards.

You can go ahead with the marriage, it will be as simple as notifying them and attaching the proof. Others on the forum have done the same, you can try searching the forum for those specific cases if you want the full details.
