Dear All,

I am a Canadian citizen and I have sponsored my common-law partner for Permanent Residency, out-land from Turkey (8, December 2017). Our application process is not yet finalized but our application seems to have come close to the end of the process.

I currently have a job offer in Canada and I need to go to Toronto in mid-July. Since we are not sure about how long the process will take from now on, I have doubts about going there and leaving my partner in Turkey at this time.

Here are our process timeline so far:
  • Application Submitted: 8, December 2017
  • First Request Submitted (Schedule A Background/Declaration and Police Certificate): 19, February 2018
  • Second Request Submitted (Medical Examination Report): 8, March 2018
  • Invitation Pre-Arrival Services Received: 17, March 2018
  • Third Request Received on 21, March 2018 (Additional Police Certificate requested from Spain / Payment of Right Of Permanent Residence Fee) with a submission deadline of 20, May 2018.
    • Since my partner lived in Spain for more than 6 months, a Police Certificate from Spain was requested.
    • Before this request, our documents were in review by the CPC Missisauga and then got sent to the Ankara Embassy for further review. This third request was sent to us by the Ankara Embassy-Immigration Section.
  • Third Request Submitted (Additional Police Certificate requested from Spain / Payment of Right Of Permanent Residence Fee): 14, May 2018
And that was the last stage of the process, I have paid the Right of Permanent Residence Fee and we have not recieved any other notifications since. We also did not even receive any response from the Ankara Embassy indicating they have recieved our last submitted documents.

I was wondering what would potentially be our next step in the application and approximately how long it would take for us to be notified? How much longer do we have for the application to be accepted?

I would appreciate your immediate guidance on the subject as I need to make a decision on my travels very soon.

Thanks,
Gizil

Congrats on the job offer in Canada.....

Complete processing of spousal sponsorship takes 12months.........may take less or more (e.g., some US citizen outland take 6 months to complete)........it varies and depends on the VO outland and complexity of your case.........your sponsorship seem to be moving very fast........relax......you are on track.

You have completed medical and has received Invitation Pre-Arrival Services on March 17th, 2018.........that's good news.......you may hear good news soon........i think the next step will be to complete background check........background check takes awhile to complete.

Check your online account........what's the Status message for "Background Check"...........1 or 2 below ?

1.) “Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check.”

2.) “We are processing your background check. we will send you a message if we need more information.“

@Wakki Thanks for your promt reply, our background check status is number 2.

In fact, today we actually recieved an email asking to submit my partner's passport to the nearest visa office to get a permanent residance visa. The email even stated "The processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada is almost complete."

How long approximately do you think this process will take? And approximately how much more time is there left until he officially recieves a PR Confirmation?

good you have received Passport Request (PPR).........how long to issue the PR visa and COPR varies and depends on the VO......it could take 2 weeks, 1month or more.......but the good news is you have received PPR and the PR visa will be issued soon......relax......it will be over soon.
