Hi all, please i need your advice and suggestion.
I applied for refugee but was denied in july 2011 and i appealed the judgement in federal court. But shortly after, my partners application for refugee was approved so he submitted his application for PR as protected person and sponsored me under common law partner. This we submitted first week in August. On october 12 2011 I got a letter from the court that the appeal was denied and on nov 21, I received a letter from CBSA to come to 1900 airport road for meeting for PRRA. From when we submitted this commonlaw sponsorship alongside my partners PR application for protected person we never heard anything from CIC that our application is processed or received. Please Im confused . what do i do now or what is omy hope?
Please i need your advice asap.Thank you

Hi Guys, we went for the interview with CBSA but contrary to what we thot that CBSA will put processing of PRRA on hold till the outcome of the common law spousal sponsorship, the CBSA agent gave me the PRRA and said they will proceed with processing . I gave the agent evidence of my sponsorship which she made coy too but she said starting from 3weeks ago, there is a new law that sponsorship can not delay or pend removal processing of CBSA.I dont know if this is true thou..please what can we do next or what should I expect now.. thanks all.
Please guys respond to this as it may save a life.

I can't really give advice, but based on the government website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/inside/prra.asp) it looks like you only have 15 days to fill out the PRRA paperwork that you were given. You should probably consult a professional about this for the best advice. If you don't have the money to hire an attorney you could look into contacting one of the organizations on this list http://www.srlan.org/content/canada-pro-bono-directory. Pro-bono means that they do the work on a volunteer, unpaid basis (i.e. free for you). Make sure you do it quickly, so that hopefully you find someone who can help you in the given timeframe.

PLS URGENT HELP NEEDED ON CBSA AND PRRA DECISION AND AIP IN FEB 2013

Hi All,

I will be glad if I can get some help here or advice because we are very confused right now.
My refugee claim was denied in April 2011 and I appealed in federal court which was
denied in October 2011 too. But we applied for spousal sponsorship under common-law
with my partner as he was approved in July 2011, we applied in August 2011. This was before my
appeal in court was denied and before I was invited for meeting by the CBSA at 6900 Airport Rd
in the same month of August.
I attended the meeting with my spouse showing evidence of
the sponsorship (payment invoice and copy of application forms, etc) and the Officer
made copies of it and said I will be contacted. I received a letter for PRRA in
December 2011 and I was given the PRRA forms to fill which I submitted in January 2012. I was
asked to be reporting once every month in person at the CBSA office.
I and my partner got married in December 2011 and sent all necessary documents to
CIC to support our application and it was received.
Our file was transferred from Vegriville to Etobicoke in April 2012 for further processing
and a letter was sent to us to confirm that. In June 2012, we received a letter from CIC
stating that we are both eligible to apply for PR and that we can apply for health card,
and work permit which we did and was approved. I guess the letter is the AIP.
I went to the CBSA office in August to present the AIP letter and the officer made a copy of it
and also gave me a letter that I should stop reporting every month from then.
Now, just today we got a letter again from CBSA stating that the decision has been made on
the PRRA I submitted and that I should present myself at the CBSA office on 6900.
We are really disappointed and sad because we thought they had suspended that till the
sponsorship is decided, and now we are more than confused because we don't know what to expect
there when I get there.
Please help us out and advice us on what to do.
My spouse called CIC to know the status of our application but it is still in process.
Thank you for your advice and assistance.
