The day your relationship began from my understanding. Then you would have proof that since then you have been living together.

I just send out my common law application.
The day you were eligible to be considered common law. I read that on that immigration guide.

Yes it's on the immigration guide and is the day that you had been living together for 12 months, not the day you entered relationship

It's the date you started living together. It only becomes a common-law relationship once a couple has been living together for 12 months.

Guide 3900 :http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp
Part 1: Application to Sponsor and Undertaking
Question 8 states:
"Note: This is the date your status officially changed from being single to common-law, not the date you started living together."

Yeah, I see that. And I know what the Guide says BUT frankly, the language of this is bad. CIC can't seem to make it straightforward. They should ask it in a more simple fashion, i.e. date began cohabiting in a conjugal relationship, then everyone could just do the math. I've seen decisions where visa officers didn't follow those instructions when assessing the application so I always just put the date the couple moved in together and then explain it further in the submissions. So you got me, I "on purpose" make a mistake on every application I submit. And I'll keep doing it until CIC manages to stop overcomplicating things. But good to point it out because most people on this forum will not include lengthy submissions with an application package. ;D
