Hi,

I am living with my friend(opposite sex) for more than one year, and maybe in a couple of months, we may move to a different city.

In this, scenario, do we fall in common-law partner?

Recently, I got a security clearance request for Canada govt jobs and I am asked about my status. So, do I have to mandatorily fill as a common-law partner? The problem is, even, if I wanna fill my roommate/ friend is totally against it. And I don't want to lose this opportunity. So, in this case, do I have to move out or there is any way around?

You can only fill the person as your common law partner if there's a legal document to prove that. In absence of any documents as prove, the person wouldn't qualify as your common law partner.
