Hey,

I have been living with my girlfriend in Canada for over a year. Should I apply under the common-law category or conjugal?

Thanks

Common-law.

Conjugal is for exceptional circumstances in which you can't be together - for example, if you are from a country in which it is illegal to be gay so you can't be together.

Great, Thank you very much.

Can you tell me. For the dependents section of the application. Would my common-law partner(Who is Canadian and will be my sponsor) be classed asa dependent??

no, your commonlaw partner is your SPONSOR. The canadian sponsor is not a dependant. A dependant is primarily referencing children. Also, for application purposes the canadian sponsor is not considered a "family member" or "spouse". They are considered the sponsor, and do not need to fill out any applicant forms that suggest needing to be filled out by "family members" or a "spouse". The sponsor ONLY fills out the sponsor forms.
