Hello. My partner (citizen, full-time job) and I will be living together for a year by the end of this year. We knew each other before that and had LDR for some time. Currently, I’m here for my graduate studies (since last fall), my student visa and permit expire in December 2022. We want to apply for inland common-law sponsorship without OWP (because I am a student for another year). So I’m just wondering if this application will make any sense... Or what our likelihood of approval is. If you have any thoughts please share :)

As long as you have a lot of proof that you are common law starting from day 1 of the 1 year you should be fine. You aren’t required to apply for the OWP.

Thank you! Also, do you know if it is okay that in my study permit application in May 2020 I declared myself as ‘single’ even though we were dating (LDR)? I think dating is not considered a status in any way. I hope it will not be seen as a misrepresentation…
