Hi all, my common law partner and I have been living together for more than 2 years now. We are planning to apply together to express entry. He will be the principal applicant. What will happen if we breakup? or if we decide not to keep living together after certain point of time?

Please HELP!

If the relationship ends before PR is issued common law partner will not get the PR.

As for not living together.. you will most likely no longer meet the definition of common-law

Thank you. What if we get the PR and after some time we break up?

No different than a married couple who gets a divorce. It happens. Your PR status is not contingent on remaining together.

Of course, if a couple divorces immediately after getting PR status, it could look like marriage fraud... if CIC somehow determined that fraud was involved, PR of both parties could be revoked. But CIC is more concerned about marriage fraud in family class applications...
