Hi all, if a couple were already able to establish a common law by staying together for a year but in 2023 it's been a year already. However, it was declared on tax filing or when applying for a visitor status permit application this year to IRCC. Now can it be claimed as a common law next when applying to IRCC now for any future application ? Will it raise a flag to them on if common law was established more than a year ago however failed to declare it ? If so or not, how to proceed with this situation? Any opinions will be very appreciated.

-You can fix CRA tax filings by going back.
-While it is a misrepresentation, it will - I understand - mostly be ignored or forgiven for visitor permit applications. But own up to the inadvertent error on the next interaction with IRCC.
