Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding the common law deceleration - wondering if anyone has been in the same situation. We filed our first year taxes for 2013 as single because we where only living together for 6 months. We are now going to change our status with the CRA to common law as we are now living together in Canada for over 12 months. We will be sending them the change of status form tomorrow. So should we tick yes or no to whether we have declared common law under the Canadian income tax act? Im confused because if we tick yes is this incorrect as we didn't file our taxes as common law yet! We are getting the common law declaration notarized tonight! Thanks!

Well, why don't you send the form TODAY and then you can honestly check that box?
